Self Branding
Two-Letter Logo Design
Transitioning into a Graphic Designer after having a background in illustration is something that I’ve wanted to do for a while, but as an Illustrator and new Graphic Designer, I knew a professional logo is something I needed. With this in mind, I set out to create a logo unique to my journey. My vision consisted of mixing my traditional background and balancing it with the technical aspects of a design logo.
The planning stages of my design consisted of exploring all two-letter logo type options. It was only when I exhausted all my options on paper that I was able to step back and analyze which ones spoke to me. I wanted my logo to be as clever as the designs I get the pleasure of working on, so a lot of thought went into composing the best logo for my brand. It started with me composing a custom font with the letter J, then by connecting it with the same letter to read as a W from far away, my unique logo came into fruition.
Below you can see the two I ended up choosing, one is very Western, one Eastern. However, when spending more time with both of them, I fell in love with the Eastern one, leading me to play with the design more. This is when I decided to make the dot into a brushstroke, adding some illustrative lines, to tie my traditional Illustrative side and graphic design style together.
