Astroid City Illustration

For this piece, I had fun creating an idea out of a few objects. The objects in conversation were a rock and some putty. To get the reference for the piece, I projected lights with colored gels, onto the surfaces of the objects and watched as they started looking realistic in the imaginary space. When that was over, I composed all the elements together in photoshop to achieve the final composition. I then took to my sketchbook. By mapping out my preliminary sketches and my color study, my vision for my final piece started to come together. And finally, I was able to paint. This project was exciting and allowed me to learn how to compose a piece in a different way than I ever had before. It helped me exercise multiple skills from finding an object, using photography, playing with photoshop, drawing out sketches, then finally painting.
